The President of the Republic of Ghana Akufo Addo has asked the Director-General of the Prisons Service, Patrick Darko Missah, to leave office, effective 1 August 2021.
Missah is due for retirement on Saturday 16 October 2021.

“He has, therefore, directed the deputy director-general of the Prisons Service, Isaac Kofi Egyir, to act as director-general of the Prisons Service, from Sunday 1 August 2021, until a new director-general is appointed, also in accordance with the constitution,” a statement from the Office of the President and signed by Eugene , director of communications said.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, has also been asked to proceed on his terminal leave as COP George Akuffo Dampare takes over, effective 1 August 2021.
“President Akufo-Addo has conveyed, in person, his gratitude to both Mr James Oppong-Boanuh and Mr Patrick Darko Missah for their dedicated and meritorious services to the nation and to the Police and Prisons Service, respectively, and wished them the very best in their future endeavours,” the statement added.
