GAPI GRATEFUL FOR EXTENSION OF COVID RELIEF SUPPORT FOR THE MUSIC INDUSTRY
The cradle of record label owners in the country GAPI is very grateful for the extension of the deadline for the covid relief support for the Music industry.
The government after the ravages suffered by the creative industries have been kind enough to offer five million cedis as grants to the industry.
The grant is timely as music producers have over the successive years suffered from various challenges confronting them as a fraternity.
High among these challenges are piracy, advent of technology and the inability of Ghamro the collective management organisation woefully failing to collect royalties for the members.
Investments running into several million of cedis have been lost to Music Producers
This silent cancer has been killing the creative energies of the Producers and Artists which is depriving the country of revenues that could have gone as tax contributions to the government.

The grant though small in scope is a welcome relief to the members
In an interview with the interim General Secretary Enock Agyepong, ” this is a welcome relief and highly commendable coming from the government. Members will put the money to good use while continuous engagement are ongoing to restructure the Music Industry for more investment to flow into the system for more quality music to be put on the market”
He entreated Members to apply for the facility before the deadline expires on 11th August 2021 as stated in a press release by the government
