Dr. Mensa Otabil, a respected member of Ghana’s religious community, is said to have resigned from the National Cathedral project’s board of trustees.
According to North Tongu opposition MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Founder of the mega International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) resigned from the board of directors due to several instances of illegality and irregularity committed by some top government officials in the ongoing process of erecting the edifice.
Mr. Ablakwa, who has remained one of the project’s most vocal detractors, said he has been reliably informed that Dr. Otabil has stopped attending board of trustees meetings for at least a year.
“I am not surprised that there is quite an uneasy calm among the Board of Trustees. And I can confirm to you that one imminent priest has walked away from the Board; the revered Dr Mensa Otabil is no longer with them.
“The whole year, he has not attended any of their meetings. It is not clear what his intention was, but he has given indication that all is not well,” Mr Ablakwa told Joy News on Sunday, June 12, 2022.
