You can do better – radio presenter comes hard at NMC and Ministry of Communications
Award winning radio presenter and entertainment pundit, Londona has called on the National Media Commission {NMC} to step up thier game in educating the public on the various positive uses of social media.
According to him, it is also the responsibility of the NMC to check contents that finds its way on social media because they are the mandated state institution with such power to regulate the industry.
Speaking on Accra-based Happy FM with Doctar Cann last Saturday, Londona bemoaned the littering of our screens with sexual and explicit material. Londona further suggested that the increase in child molestation is as a result of the negative influence social media has had on our society.
Speaking in the Twi language, Londona questioned why the government has done nothing about the upsurge of the negative use of social media by the Ghanaian youth over all these years.
He wants the Communications Ministry through the NMC and other stakeholders to come up with innovative technologies that will be able to flag materials which are inappropriate and does not meet the standards requirements.
In recent times, the use of social media has created a lot of jobs as views from a YouTube channel could generate thousands of cedis in weeks if monetized.
